Southeast Texas Food Bank Volunteer Policy Agreement

Preparation:

  1. Volunteers are encouraged to schedule their shifts at least one day in advance, unless they are on a regular weekly schedule.
  2. By submitting your personal information to us, you are agreeing that the Southeast Texas Food Bank may use the information in accordance with this privacy policy including, Photographs taken during shift, events and Volunteer functions.
  3. Volunteers must log in and out of the CERVIS System. This process is critical for emergency situations. The hours are also very important to us for grant writing and reporting purposes.
  4. Volunteers must review our mandatory policy agreement and agree to the terms therein prior to starting volunteer activities at the Food Bank.
  5. Volunteers must wear appropriate clothing. No open toed shoes, no headphones, very limited jewelry. Inappropriate clothing would include short shorts, tank tops, shirts which reveal midriffs and plunging necklines. If these are worn the volunteer will be asked to leave and may return upon correction of the issue.
  6. Volunteers who are tracking hours for school or community service are required to track their own hours. If a volunteer fails to sign out following the completion of their shift the shift will only be accounted for 30 minutes.
  7.  If you have paperwork which requires a signature, the staff member who you worked with may sign off on your paperwork. It is not the responsibility of the Southeast Texas Food Bank, volunteer department or staff to track hours for a volunteer. Your paperwork may not be stored at this facility overnight. On arrival you are to give your paperwork to volunteer services or the staff leader working with you.

Attendance:

  1. We rely heavily on our volunteers. It is very important for volunteers to show up on time. If you are ill or otherwise need to modify your schedule, please call the Volunteer Services Office at 409-839-8777 ext. 116.
  2. If a volunteer should need to leave early due to illness or emergency, the volunteer must notify the Volunteer Support Specialist (or other staff) before leaving and sign out of the volunteer management system.

The volunteer department must account for all volunteers before leaving the building so please assist us in this if an emergency situation occurs.
